Charter Boats Whitby

Looking for Charter Boats Whitby location? A chance to get out onto the North Sea and do a spot of Sea-Fishing? Then this will be an interesting read as I have just been out on my first Boat fishing trip and am excited to share the experience!

Experience the Best Fishing Trips in Whitby

Whitby has a number of Charter Boats that cater to Visitors, Tourists and first-time Boat fisherman like myself. I have fished from the Whitby Pier plenty of times over the years but this was a first, actually trying out one of the Whitby Fishing Trips, and trying fishing from the sea.

I picked the Libby Fishing Trips at Whitby to go on and to take one of my sons, who’s 12 years old. We booked it a week in advance via text on the mobile number advertsied and it couldn’t of been more straight forward.

Ken messaged the night before to confirm weather forecast is good and the trip will be commencing at 11am in the morning. Meeting time 10:45 on New Quay Road.

We arrived and the other 4 people were already there waiting for Libby boat to arrive back from a prior 2 hour Mackeral trip that morning.

Why Choose Whitby Charter Boats?

It Couldn’t of been more straight forward and hassle-free for our first time out, trying our ‘sea-legs’! Come 11am the Libby Boat docked back into the Harbour quay. We boarded, and in no time we were heading down the esturary out to Sea.

A beautiful sight-seeing excursion if nothing else, as we sailed passed the hussle and bustle of Whitby town with lots to look at and marvel at as we whizzed by…

In no time at all we had sailed past both the Piers and waved to various fisherman and onlookers on the Piers, as we headed out to Sea.

We’ve always wanted to go out to sea but somehow never got past fishing on the Pier until now.

It was day one of the School holidays and I promised we would finally go out and trying a boating experience!

The rods were set out with Mackeral feathers and lined up neatly in a row, waiting for us to have a go at boat fishing once we hit our location and the engines were turned off.

Within minutes of everyone dipping there rods over the side of the vessel and jigging the lines up and down, one person landed a Codling, a nice size too – easily feeding 1 / 2 people I suspect.

The trip quickly passed by and 3 Mackeral, 1 Whiting and a Flat fish later we had fished our way through 3 hours. Time had passed quickly as we moved from location to location chasing the fish.

Affordable Prices

At the time of writing it cost us £30 per head to go for a 3 hour round trip. I can honestly say it was well worth every penny. It was easy and convenient and shared the boat with other like minded friendly people.

Experienced Crew

Ken was the skipper and met us onboard when we boarded the boat. He took us out and showed us what to do. He was obvioulsy very experienced and was full of useful tips and interesting conversation. He didn’t mind you poking your head into the cabin to take a peek at the controls and ask a few questions. He easily adjusted positions as and when required with changes of tide and currents etc. We felt quite safe in his hands.

Gina, welcomed us at the queue and was very friendly, happily answering our questions as we eagily waited for the trip to start.

Conculsion

We can’t comment on how this trip compares to the other fishing trips in Whitby as this is our first one, but from what I saw today – My son and I had a great time and the trip felt good value for money.

I am certain we will pop back at some point and have another go.

This time I might take the camera out and get some extra snaps of the Whitby Abbey from a distance and the town from a different angle (the phone only goes so far).

‘Tight-lines’ if and when you try out some Sea-fishing!
